Dmitry Druzhinsky’s MatchPoint NYC, covering three-acres and being over 120,000 sq. ft. in area puts forward an unrivaled range of gear and facilities, encompassing a restaurant and a juice bar. Its highpoint is an extensive, nine court indoor tennis arena, the largest in Brooklyn. Local and international tennis icons visit the grounds, including Kazakhstan’s Aleksandr Nedovyesv and the prior number one women’s player in the world, Dinara Safina. The R Baby Foundation, a charity assisting hospital programs for high-risk infants, has picked MatchPoint as the location for its New York Tennis Tournament for two sequential years. The competition is played by Wall Street’s leading financers and has raised more than $500,000.
Coney Island, an area customarily without many recreational facilities, now has one of Brooklyn’s latest and most extraordinary address, MatchPoint NYC. Driven by his aspiration for sports and promise to South Brooklyn, entrepreneur Dmitry Druzhinsky co-founded the glamorous sports center in 2013 after noting a deep need in his community. Druzhinsky’s determination of delivering New York’s legendary fitness experience has led to the complex becoming the ideal site of families, professional sportspersons, charity events, and world-class tournaments.
Dmitry Druzhinsky is honored that the R Baby Foundation is the country’s sole nonprofit organization working to save infants’ lives with pediatric care, and to date, has donated $8 million towards hospital programs while saving more than one million lives. The organization’s annual tournament started in 2010, under the guise of Jason Pinsky. “Six years ago I saw the foundation was doing a golf event, and I suggested we should do a tennis event. The first year was sort of a test and it went well, and the demand has been high ever since. We bring together a great group of competitive guys for a great cause,” he said. In the past years, the R Baby Foundation is proud to have raised $500,000 or more for childcare campaigns including telemedicine with pediatric experts, mobile simulation training programs, along with symposiums.
MatchPoint NYC is situated on a three acre lot on Coney Island, offering over 120,000 square feet of unparalleled equipment and amenities, with the most notable aspect being an expansive nine court indoor tennis center that is the largest of its kind in Brooklyn. Stemming from the lack of recreational facilities in the area, the luxury sports center was pushed by Dmitry Druzhinsky in 2013. His committment to the club’s members, employees, and the community have helped the complex quickly become the preferred venue for families, professional athletes, and cause-based charity events. “They are great to work with,” said Darren Port, CEO of Powered by Professionals and one of the organizers behind this year’s tournament. “He has really gone out of his way to invite us to work with them, and that has helped make the event really special in the two years we have had it here. The foundation does a great job in keeping its expenses low to ensure that the money raised goes towards the cause, and MatchPoint’s generosity helps make that possible.”
